Oil and Acrylic on Canvas

24"x24"

Banned, imprisoned, and tortured, Iranian artists continued their fight for freedom. A cartoonist imprisoned for 12 years for her work. A director banned and under house arrest for criticizing authorities. Two underground musicians imprisoned for 6 years for simply making music. Two female filmmakers, imprisoned for a total of 7 years for making documentaries on gender inequalities. An actress banned from entering the country for making movies abroad. Their names shall not be spoken of, their artwork may not be displayed, their artistic and personal future, uncertain. these artists are all separated from each other and their audiences, by steel bars and thick walls. My exhibit breaks the ban on their faces and brings their faces together in one room, uniting them with each other and the people. Big, Bold, and united, they are here together with their audiences.
